4th Year Personal Project

There is a world where 12 different factions are totally seperated from eachother by various dangerous, impassable rifts. However there once was a way to travel between them, by a gigantic clock-island as a passage in the middle, where the arms would function as a transport system. Unfortunately due to several wars between the factions the clock got heavinly damaged and stopped working, gone was the only connection with eachother.
More focused of getting an art scene together than being a game, this project is part of my graduation year. With this project I wanted to create something which was entirely my own idea from concept to final art.

Early white box

Mid project

I chose to create this project using Unreal because I have become more familiarized with the engine over the years and thought this was a good opportunity to enhance my skills. My process was to first start with a basic white box in Maya and then to use that as a base in Unreal, which allowed me to see what assets I could reuse as a modular asset and which ones were going to be unique assets.
When I got started on unwrapping UVs and creating the first textures I made use of Substance Painter for the first time. This helped creating textures more efficiently as did it teach me more about using materials in Unreal as well.
Upon reflection, I can see several way of improving the project especially in enhancing the amount of details and improving the lighting. This understanding will help me continue to improve on these areas in future projects.
